Join the Food Manufacturing Industry in a Production Manager role in our Headquarters location!
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Production Manager will oversee the execution of the production schedules to meet customer demands and deadlines in a manufacturing environment. Daily tracking of efficient production processes, labor usage, and shortages, and quality output will be key responsibilities. Will work with Quality, Warehouse, and Maintenance departments to reach desired goals.
Major tasks, responsibilities, and key accountabilities:
- Analyze production processes and identify areas for improvement
- Partner with Quality Assurance and remain compliant with all food safety requirements
- Maintain accurate records of production activities, including output, quality, and use of labor
- Understand management priorities and handle them with urgency, and exhibit competence

Ensure the production team is properly trained and job functions are clearly defined
- Promote, maintain, and enforce safe and healthy working conditions for all employees in accordance with regulatory requirements and company standards
- Responsible for retention through coaching, counseling, disciplining, training, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
- Keep the training matrix for all hourly team members up to date. Identify high-potential candidates for clerk, team lead, and supervisor roles and support their development

Identify bottlenecks and implement solutions

Learn the operation, adjustment, and minor repairs of all production equipment
- Follow health, safety, and cleanliness standards

Excellent attendance and punctuality for a salaried position
- Complete other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager
Additional Responsibilities:
- Drive safety expectations in the assigned department

Provide guidance and leadership to area supervisors
- Handle work-related safety incidents and partner with site safety reps

Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in a related field preferred

Bilingual English/Spanish Strongly Preferred

Detailed knowledge of GMP’s in a food production environment preferred
- Industry-related experience with HACCP/HARPC
- Experience with process improvement methodologies and a commitment to continuous improvement preferred
- Demonstrated management performance in a fast-paced and changing operations environment
- Excellent understanding of mechanical and standardized processes preferred
- Ability to manage competing demands and meet tight deadlines with strong follow-through
- Possess soft skills necessary to direct a team
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience directing teams required

Minimum 5 years in manufacturing required
- High-level leadership and decision-making skills

Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills

Safety-conscious and knowledgeable, as well as able to balance productivity and quality needs

Solid Microsoft Excel skills and previous experience with an MRP/ERP/WMS preferred

Ability to communicate effectively in English and navigate conversations effectively in other languages
Working Conditions

This role operates in a wet and cold/refrigerated environment (around 35 degrees F) located within a manufacturing, warehousing, and production type facility. Must be able to withstand cold temperatures for extended periods

This role is divided between time spent on the floor assisting the production teams and time spent in the office on computer based tasks. However, the ability to perform repetitive bending and standing up is also required. This would require the ability to lift 10-35 lbs. repetitively and up to 45 lbs. occasionally. Depending on the area, you must also be able to push/pull up to 250 lbs. on rollers occasionally

Must be able to physically walk the production floor having a hands-on approach with problem solving
