We’re hiring a full-time Medical Assistant/Support Staff to join our team at our Cañon City location.
We are seeking a reliable and organized Front Desk Medical Assistant to join our Family practice walk in clinic. This cross-trained role combines front desk responsibilities with selected medical assistant duties, focusing primarily on administrative support and preparation for minor procedures. The ideal candidate will be personable, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced clinical environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES: As a Medical Assistant/Support Staff under the supervision of the Director and Supervisor you will:
Greet and check in patients with professionalism and empathy.
Schedule appointments and manage calendars for providers.
Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and route messages appropriately.
Verify insurance information and collect co-pays.
Maintain patient records and ensure confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Create a positive, respectful, and empathetic environment during all patient interactions.
Medical Assistant Support (Non-Clinical):
Assist with procedures, perform CLIA waived testing, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control standards.
Prepare patients for examination, take vital signs (to include manual blood pressure), depression screenings, and document medical histories in the EHR.
EKG, Spirometry, Nebulizer treatments, Minor wound care and administration of IM and SQ injections.
Participate in team huddles, quality improvement initiatives, and care planning meetings.
Ensure proper documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
Restock supplies and maintain cleanliness of clinical areas.
Support providers with administrative tasks such as printing patient education materials or updating charts.
Works with insurance companies to obtain pre-authorizations and verify coverage requirements as needed for ordering services.
EKG, Spirometry, Nebulizer treatments, Minor wound care and administration of IM and SQ injections.
Occasionally lifts and carries items up to 20 pounds.
Stands, sits and walks for prolonged periods of time.
Works under stress in emergency situations.
Records data electronically and communicates with clients, using normal range of hearing and vision.
Frequently operates a computer keyboard and mouse using hands and fingers.

What we’re looking For—The Must-Haves
High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program and Current MA certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent)
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to multitask and maintain a calm demeanor under pressure
Exceptional time management skills
Flexibility and ability to easily adapt to change
Well-developed documentation skills
Computer proficiency with a minimum of 1 year office experience
Valid Colorado driver’s license, and access to reliable transportation during work hours.
CPR/First Aid
What we’d Like to See in you—the Nice-to-Haves
Previous experience in a medical office setting is highly desirable
Familiarity with EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, or similar)
Two years of medical office/healthcare experience
Knowledge of billing and medical electronic health records is preferred
Spanish language skills
