Operations Manager – Athletica Health & Fitness
Position Overview
Athletica Health & Fitness is seeking a highly motivated, hands-on Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations of our facility while ensuring an exceptional experience for our members and guests. This leadership role is responsible for maintaining operational excellence, driving team performance, ensuring club cleanliness, supporting membership growth, and creating a positive, energetic environment throughout the club.

Key Responsibilities
Club Operations
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the facility to ensure smooth, efficient, and professional execution of all club functions.
- Maintain high operational standards across all departments.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Resolve operational challenges quickly while maintaining an exceptional member experience.
Facility Cleanliness & Housekeeping
- Ensure the facility maintains the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation 24/7.
- Supervise, train, schedule, and guide the housekeeping team.
- Conduct routine inspections of all club areas, including locker rooms, fitness floor, studios, restrooms, juice bar, childcare (if applicable), and common areas.
- Develop cleaning schedules and accountability systems to maintain club standards.
- Address cleanliness concerns immediately and implement corrective action when necessary.
Inventory Management
- Manage inventory levels for:
- Juice Bar products
- Retail merchandise
- Club supplies
- Cleaning supplies
- Office supplies
- Conduct regular inventory counts and audits.
- Place orders as needed while controlling costs and minimizing waste.
- Ensure proper storage and organization of inventory.
Financial Operations
- Oversee daily cash handling procedures.
- Verify and secure daily cash drops.
- Prepare and reconcile bank deposits.
- Monitor cash flow and maintain accurate financial records.
- Assist with budgeting and expense control initiatives.
- Analyze operational costs and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
Loss Prevention & Asset Protection
- Implement procedures to reduce loss, theft, and operational shrinkage.
- Monitor inventory discrepancies.
- Investigate incidents involving theft, fraud, or policy violations.
- Ensure company assets are properly maintained and protected.
Equipment & Facility Maintenance
- Conduct regular facility walkthroughs.
- Identify broken or malfunctioning equipment.
- Coordinate repairs with vendors and maintenance contractors.
- Track maintenance requests until completion.
- Ensure all fitness equipment is safe, functional, and operating properly.
- Assist in planning preventative maintenance schedules.
Membership Sales & Retention
- Support the membership sales process by working closely with the sales team.
- Ensure all membership leads receive timely follow-up.
- Monitor sales performance and hold staff accountable for daily outreach activities.
- Assist in developing strategies to increase memberships and member retention.
- Help resolve membership concerns, billing issues, cancellations, freezes, and account adjustments.
- Maintain exceptional customer service standards throughout the membership experience.
Team Leadership
- Recruit, train, coach, and develop team members across multiple departments.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented culture built on accountability and professionalism.
- Lead by example while motivating staff to achieve club goals.
- Ensure employees receive continuous training and development.
Group Fitness Programming
- Oversee all Group Fitness (Group X) programming.
- Ensure all scheduled classes are adequately staffed.
- Work with instructors to maintain engaging, high-quality classes.
- Develop creative ideas to increase class participation.
- Evaluate class attendance and make scheduling recommendations.
- Recruit new instructors as needed.
- Promote special events, challenges, and seasonal programming.
Marketing & Community Outreach
- Develop relationships with local businesses, schools, and community organizations.
- Coordinate community outreach events and partnerships.
- Assist with planning club events, member appreciation days, and promotional activities.
- Oversee club marketing initiatives.
- Manage and grow the club’s social media presence by promoting memberships, fitness classes, special events, success stories, and community involvement.
- Collaborate with leadership to execute marketing campaigns that drive membership growth.
Process Improvement
- Continuously evaluate operational procedures.
- Develop systems that improve efficiency, accountability, and member satisfaction.
- Recommend innovative ideas to improve club performance and member engagement.
- Monitor key performance indicators and implement action plans when needed.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as an Operations Manager, General Manager, Assistant General Manager, or similar leadership role, preferably within the fitness, hospitality, or service industry.
- Strong leadership and team development skills.
- Experience managing multiple departments simultaneously.
- Knowledge of inventory management and loss prevention.
- Experience overseeing cash handling, deposits, and financial accountability.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong customer service and conflict resolution abilities.
- Experience with membership sales and sales performance management.
- Familiarity with billing systems and membership account management.
- Strong understanding of marketing, social media, and community engagement.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and club management software is preferred.
Preferred Skills
- Fitness industry experience.
- CPR/AED Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Experience with scheduling software and club management systems.
- Event planning experience.
- Social media marketing experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
