Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Family Law Paralegal to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of family law and demonstrate exceptional organizational skills. This role involves providing comprehensive support to attorneys in various family law matters, including divorce, child custody, and adoption cases. The Family Law Paralegal will play a crucial role in ensuring that all legal documents are prepared accurately and filed in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys in preparing legal documents, including petitions, motions, and discovery requests related to family law cases.
- Conduct thorough legal research to support case preparation and strategy development.
- Manage case files using Clio or similar document management systems to ensure all information is organized and accessible.
- Communicate effectively with clients, witnesses, and experts while maintaining professional phone etiquette.
- Schedule appointments, hearings, and meetings for attorneys while providing executive administrative support as needed.
- Review contracts and other legal documents for accuracy and compliance with relevant laws.
- Assist in the litigation process by preparing trial exhibits and coordinating with court personnel as necessary.
- Stay updated on changes in family law regulations and practices to provide informed support to the legal team.
Experience
- Previous experience as a Paralegal or in a similar role is preferred, particularly in family law.
- Proficiency in legal research methodologies and tools is essential for effective case preparation.
- Familiarity with litigation processes and the ability to assist attorneys during trials is highly desirable.
- Experience with document management systems like iManage is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously are critical for success in this role.
Billable Yearly Requirement.
Employees are required to bill a minimum of six (6) billable hours each workday, excluding weekends and approved firm holidays. This equates to an annual billable requirement of 1,560 billable hours.
