Position Overview:
The Primary Teacher is responsible for creating a nurturing, prepared Montessori learning environment that supports the holistic development of children typically aged 3 to 6 years. The teacher will guide students through individualized and group activities that foster independence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning, in accordance with Montessori philosophy and school standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Classroom Management & Instruction
- Prepare and maintain an orderly, stimulating, and child-centered Montessori classroom environment.
- Present Montessori lessons and materials according to each child’s developmental level, interest, and readiness.
- Observe and record each child’s progress and adjust teaching strategies to support individual growth.
- Foster independence, concentration, and self-discipline through respectful guidance and encouragement.
- Promote a sense of community, responsibility, and respect among all students.
Curriculum & Planning
- Implement and align Montessori curriculum with school goals and state early childhood education standards.
- Develop lesson plans that integrate practical life, sensorial, language, mathematics, cultural studies, art, and science.
- Incorporate hands-on, project-based learning opportunities that enhance creativity and critical thinking.
Parent Communication & Collaboration
- Communicate regularly and effectively with parents regarding student progress, classroom activities, and school events.
- Conduct parent-teacher conferences, progress reports, and developmental assessments.
- Collaborate with assistants, co-teachers, and administrative staff to maintain consistency and quality in classroom practice.
Professional Conduct
- Uphold Montessori philosophy and principles in all aspects of classroom practice and interactions.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
- Maintain all required documentation and adhere to licensing, health, and safety regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field (required).
- Montessori Certification for Primary level (3–6 years) from an accredited training center (required or in progress).
- Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in a Montessori environment (preferred).
- Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated passion for early childhood education and commitment to Montessori philosophy.
Work Schedule:
Full-time, Monday through Friday, during school operational hours.
