Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Educational Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) to join our special education team in Evans, GA. This role is vital in providing communication access to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, ensuring they have equal opportunities to succeed academically and socially within the school environment.

Term: Full School Year 2026-2027
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday (School Hours)
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Interpreting: Interpret classroom lectures, discussions, and auditory information into American Sign Language (ASL).
Student Support: Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and hearing peers to foster an inclusive environment.
Educational Assistance: Provide "re-teaching" or clarification of instructional materials under the direction of the classroom teacher to ensure student comprehension.
IEP Participation: Attend Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and provide feedback regarding the student's communication needs and progress.
Inclusion: Interpret for school-wide events, assemblies, and extracurricular activities as needed.
Requirements
Certification: Active state-level interpreting credentials or Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score ( 3.5 or higher).
Licensure: Valid State Department of Education certification/licensure (e.g., Professional Educator License).
Education: Completion of an Interpreter Training Program (ITP) or an Associate/Bachelor’s degree in ASL/Interpreting.
Skills: Fluency in ASL and a strong understanding of the RID/EIPA Code of Professional Conduct.
