SENIOR MAINTENANCE AIDE (SEASONAL) – SAN DIEGO COAST DISTRICT / AUTO SHOP

The reporting location is San Diego, CA. The Senior Maintenance Aide reports directly to the Heavy Equipment Mechanic and is under the supervision of the District Maintenance Chief. The Senior Maintenance Aide, on a temporary or seasonal basis only, performs unskilled manual labor in cleaning up and maintaining State property, and does other related work.
This position performs the following duties: Minor vehicle maintenance under direction and inspected by the Heavy Equipment Mechanic such as: oil, fluid and air filter changes, brake repair, windshield wiper replacement, removing, replacing, and repairing tires, hoses, batteries, spark plugs. Loading and operating vehicle lift and other vehicle maintenance repairs in the Auto shop or in the field as needed.
Vehicle transportation: operating various vehicles including trucks, automobiles, gators, and electric carts. May drive a vehicle to pick up vehicle parts from a vendor, pick up or deliver a vehicle to a repair shop, dealership, or park unit. Fills out Monthly Time Reports, Vehicle Usage Reports, and other required documents. Shop Maintenance: Regularly mops, cleans, and maintains the Auto Shop according to the County of San Diego Health Department standards for environmental health and safety. A State Park approved uniform is required for this position.
Incumbent will work Monday-Thursday 6:00am- 4:30pm. This position can work 189 days in a 12 consecutive month period or a maximum of 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months per California Code of Regulation 265.1. This position is designated as not telework eligible.
The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
Possession of a valid driver’s license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment. (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk driving or reckless driving.)
