The City of Westbrook is hiring a Facilities Technician.
The position performs skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance of City-owned buildings, facilities, parking garages, grounds, and related infrastructure. Performs a variety of building trade duties including carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, roofing, remodeling, and general building maintenance. Responds to work orders and facility maintenance needs, troubleshoots problems, maintains equipment and supplies, and assists with facility improvement and capital projects. Ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established policies, procedures, codes, and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
- Performs routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance and repairs at City-owned buildings, facilities, parking garages, and other assigned locations.
- Performs general building maintenance and repairs, including carpentry, drywall, painting, flooring, doors and hardware, minor plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Operates and maintains a variety of hand tools, power tools, ladders, maintenance equipment, and other equipment necessary to perform assigned work.
- Assists the Building Superintendent with facility renovation, repair, improvement, and construction projects, including preparation, demolition, installation, repairs, and project closeout.
- Assists contractors, vendors, and other service providers working in City facilities; coordinates access and provides information regarding facility conditions and requirements.
- May be required to participate in an on-call or emergency response rotation and respond to urgent facility issues outside of normal working hours.
Education & Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in building maintenance, facilities maintenance, construction, or a related building trade required.
- Experience working with multiple building trades, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, painting, or HVAC systems, preferred.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Maine driver's license.
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the primary duties and responsibilities may be considered.

Compensation and Benefits:
- Competitive salary range of $29.34-31.48/hour depending upon experience.
- This position is full-time, non-exempt and covered by the AFSCME collective bargaining agreement.

The City of Westbrook was a traditional mill city that has grown and diversified significantly over the last two decades to become a residential hub and business center for the region. Westbrook has a population of over 20,000 and covers 17.36 square miles. Westbrook is centrally located to both urban and rural amenities. Currently, the City employs approximately 195 full-time and 80 variable hour employees covered by five different Collective Bargaining Agreements. The departments contained within the City are the Mayor’s Office, Economic Development, City Clerk, Finance, Human Resources, Planning, Code Enforcement, & Assessing, Public Services, Community Services, General Assistance, Library, Police, Fire & Rescue, and Dispatch.
The Public Services Department consists of two Light Equipment Operators, 18 Equipment Operators, two supervisors, and one manager. The Streets division of the Public Services Department is responsible for 93 miles of roadways, 6.2 acres of public parking, 43 acres of parks and open spaces in 35 locations, and five cemeteries of 39 acres.
