Assistant Center Standards Officer/Student Government Advisor
Primary Position Objectives
Provide support to the Standards Officer. Manage the Center’s Student Behavior Management and Incentives system, including zero tolerance for drugs and violence and incentives to promote positive behavior. Responsible for providing training to staff and students on compliance with the Policy & Requirement Handbook requirements and company policies in regards student standards of conduct and behavior. Assist students in acquiring social maturity needed to gain employment and commence a career.

- Assist in Career Development System of new students to explain the disciplinary system and penalties that may be incurred
- Provide assistance and discusses infractions of Center rules and regulations with individual students based on Incident Reports from Residential Advisors, Instructors and other staff
- Assist in distributing weekly restriction list to appropriate Center personnel
- Assist in maintenance of records of all activities relating to Center discipline
- Inform students of appropriate appointments to appear before the Disciplinary Council or Student Personnel Officer
- Assist in maintaining each student’s disciplinary record
- Inform students of required disciplinary hearings and the appropriate procedures for disciplinary decisions
- Assist in maintaining and submitting weekly activity report, percentage of class attendance, number of infractions reports, dorm incidents, dorm cleanliness, etc.
- Assist in ensuring that students moving to another phase of program meet disciplinary guidelines
- Assist in establishing and maintaining a liaison with juvenile and law enforcement agencies in relation to their influence on the student population
- Assist Student Personnel Officer in all aspects; Acts as Student Personnel Officer upon absence of said officer
- Work towards meeting performance standard goals
- Follow CDSS plan and Code of Conduct system daily
- Adhere to required property control policies and procedures
- Maintain good housekeeping in all areas and comply with safety practices
- Comply with all DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulation, Quality Assurance Plan (QAP), LifeSkills Connection's policies and procedures, Job Corps notices and bulletins, and Center policies and procedures
- Demonstrate and abide by LifeSkills Connection’s core values and operating principles
- Model, mentor, monitor appropriate Career Success Standards
- Help students become more employable through continuous reinforcement
- Participation in PRH mandated staff training is mandatory; Failure to participate may result in disciplinary actions up to and including termination
- Responsible for developing, conducting, and supervising/chaperoning a wide variety of leisure-time activities for all students
- Assist with work involved in planning, organizing, and carrying out department’s total recreational services
- Administer a well-rounded program of diversified activities in the assigned recreation component
- Work with the SGA and provides support with activities and support of leadership programs on center; coordinates the SGA program
- Submit all supply needs, giving suggested source of supply to supervisor
- Keep a daily record of attendance in the assigned recreational activities, arts and crafts, movies, weight room, intramurals, etc.
- Maintain discipline, cleanliness, and inventory control in assigned areas
- Post schedules of monthly activities and special events
- Submit a schedule of special activities for the upcoming month to supervisor on the last Wednesday of each month
- Submit a list of monthly off-Center cultural activities and other events, which will be placed on the upcoming month’s calendar of off-Center trips
- Maintain a stocked first aid kit in assigned area where it is clearly visible and accessible
- Assist in recruitment of volunteers and supervises and gives direction to any volunteer personnel assigned to the recreation area
- Project a positive self-image and encourages enthusiastic participation in recreation programs
- Chaperone and direct off-Center trips and ensures necessary funds are available for the trips
- Performs other duties as assigned

- Present information both clearly and concisely and regularly confirms correct interpretation of information
- Very high standard of communication skills, both written and oral for the presentation of facts and ideas
- Written communication must be clear, concise, easy to read and comprehend
- Action-oriented; Demonstrate the ability to handle several projects simultaneously with decision making, flexibility, and problem-solving
- Implement the key principles of time management, task allocation, and priority assignment in addition to personal organization
- Show attention to detail and the ability to complete work with the highest level of accuracy and efficiency
- Continually seek ways to improve employment service provided via the development of professional skills and personal growth
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Proficiency with advanced Microsoft Office applications including Word, Power Point and Excel
One to two years’ experience in Juvenile Justice, secretarial, or related experience preferred
One-year experience with youth or young adults
High school diploma or equivalent
Associate’s degree preferred
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid State Driver’s License with acceptable driving record
