Job Summary:
FRS Clipper is looking for enthusiastic, upbeat individuals who share our love of the Pacific Northwest and want to join our talented team of Onboard Cruise Attendants. This position offers a fun, rewarding and challenging job, working on the water, and meeting new friends! Your primary job will involve high interaction with guest, food service and tour sales, and being an all-around great host to our guests onboard the boat. All of tour Onboard team members are based in the Seattle, WA area, and our high-speed ferry sails between Seattle and Victoria, British Columbia daily. This role closely mirrors that of a flight attendant, but in a maritime setting.
This is a full-time, year-round position with great benefits.
Key Responsibilities
· A genuine desire to provide exceptional customer service while creating amazing memories for our guests
· Key focus of onboard sales: tours/excursions for both Victoria and Seattle; onboard food, beverage and merchandise
· Vessel cleaning and general upkeep
· Various boarding and disembarkation duties, including greeting, scanning boarding passes, luggage handling and assisting guests with accessibility needs
· Play an important role in the safety of our guests onboard. All Onboard employees attend a 5-day USCG Basic Safety Training course, which includes instruction on basic life-saving techniques, fire safety, life-raft launching and water safety. Paid by Clipper.
Key Requirements
· Must possess a US Passport
· No DUI/DWI, negligent driving, or felony convictions (this will disqualify your entry into Canada)
· Must pass a required pre-employment drug screen (including cannabis) and pass random United States Coast Guard (USCG) drug screenings (paid for by Clipper)
· Complete a USCG Basic Safety Training courses (paid for by Clipper)
· Complete a USCG Medical Fitness exam (paid for by Clipper)
Other Requirements
· A desire to be a great host to our guests onboard; ability to be engaging and approachable at all times
· Punctual and reliable is a must
· Ability to complete work as part of a team, while having individual daily responsibilities
· Ability to work a schedule of 4 days on, 3 days off - each shift is approximately 14 hours (10 hours working, 3 to 4 hours layover in Victoria (Clipper provides a layover stipend))
· Experience in restaurant, hospitality, and customer service with emphasis in sales and high-end guest service
· Able to lift 75lbs
Compensation: $21.30/hour + $25 Layover per diem + commission + tips
(average earnings are $24 – 29/hour)
Schedule: a typical workday is 10 hour shifts (plus a 3 to 4 hour afternoon Layover in Victoria, BC);
