SUMMARY:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team at Parchment Northwood Elementary as a full-time Career Skills teacher. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing engaging career readiness programs that empower students to explore various career paths, enhance their employability skills, and prepare for future educational and professional opportunities. You will work collaboratively with educators, students, KRESA and the community to create a supportive learning environment that fosters personal growth and career exploration.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and implement a comprehensive career skills curriculum that aligns with educational standards and student needs.

Facilitate workshops, presentations, and hands-on activities focused on career exploration, resume writing, interview skills, and workplace etiquette.

Collaborate with teachers and staff to integrate career skills into existing academic programs and initiatives.

Assess student progress and provide individualized support to help them set and achieve career-related goals.

Organize career fairs, guest speaker events, and job shadowing opportunities to expose students to various professions.

Maintain relationships with local businesses, organizations, and community members to create networking opportunities for students.

Monitor industry trends and best practices in career readiness to continually enhance program offerings.

Provide guidance and resources for students seeking internships, volunteer opportunities, and other experiential learning activities.

Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to keep them informed about career readiness initiatives and student progress.

Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with career education methodologies and resources.
REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Career Development, or a related field.

Valid teaching certification or license in the state of Michigan.

Experience teaching career readiness to elementary students preferred.

Strong knowledge of the Michigan Career Development Model.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.

Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of students, staff, and parents.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Commitment to ongoing professional development and a passion for education.

Familiarity with educational technology and Xello.
