Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Medical Assistant to join our team in a dynamic healthcare environment. This practice is primarily a mobile primary care group. A small percentage of actual in office patients. High volume of calls. The ideal candidate will support providers and patients and serve as a point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere while providing essential administrative support. This role is crucial in maintaining the smooth operation of our office.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing them with necessary information and assistance.
- Manage incoming calls, directing them to appropriate departments or personnel.
- Schedule appointments and mapping of home visits for patients in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
- MA duties including vitals, blood draw, some testing, like electrocardiograms.
- Maintain patient records and ensure all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
- Assist with billing inquiries and coding processes as needed.
- Coordinate with medical staff to facilitate patient flow within the clinic or hospital.
- Handle administrative tasks including data entry, authorizations, referrals and managing correspondence.
- Ensure compliance with health regulations and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in healthcare administration is a plus.
- Previous experience as a MA or in a similar role within a hospital or clinical setting preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology related to geriatrics, X-Ray, medical-surgical procedures, and Level II Trauma Center operations is advantageous.
- Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other relevant software applications.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with an emphasis on customer service.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Knowledge of coding practices related to outpatient services is beneficial.
