Are you a licensed Civil Engineer looking to take the next step into project leadership? We're seeking a Design Lead - Civil Design Engineer to join a collaborative transportation team delivering roadway, highway, and municipal infrastructure projects throughout Minnesota.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys leading design efforts, mentoring team members, managing client relationships, and contributing to impactful infrastructure projects.
What You'll Do
- Lead roadway design for municipal and transportation infrastructure projects from preliminary engineering through final design.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and coordination across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Prepare construction plans, technical reports, specifications, cost estimates, permit applications, and contract documents.
- Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, and public stakeholders throughout project development.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to project teams.
- Assist with proposal preparation and business development efforts.
- Ensure projects are delivered on schedule while maintaining high quality standards.
What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Minnesota.
- 5+ years of civil engineering experience focused on transportation, roadway, or municipal infrastructure design.
- Experience preparing construction plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, Bentley OpenRoads, or similar design software.
- Experience developing technical reports, specifications, construction documents, permitting packages, and cost estimates.
- Strong communication, organizational, and project coordination skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Progressive leadership experience within civil engineering consulting.
- Experience managing projects, mentoring staff, or leading design teams.
- Client relationship or business development experience is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $90,000 - $125,000 annually
Compensation is based on experience, technical expertise, licensure, and overall qualifications.
