Special Services Specialist
(Job Description)
Salary Range: $30.00 hr. to 35.00 hr Part-Time
Position Goals
.To identify and treat special needs children and to educate parents about programs to help children with disabilities.
Reporting
· Report to Operation Manager
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in special education, Education, Behavioral Science, or early childhood disorders from an accredited university.
· Fluent in more than one language.

Tasks
Quality Management
· Be actively involved in implementing Individualized Education Plans (I.E.P.).
· Inform teachers and parents of suitable methods for handling special needs children
· Serve as a counselor by providing useful guidelines, resource, or training sessions to teachers.
Identify special needs children
· Screen all children enrolled for speech, language, cognitive impairments within 45 days of entry
· Ensure rescreen of children with low LAP-D/R for speech/language, cognitive deficits within 10 days of referral
· Transport children to testing and therapy sites when parents cannot.
Organize and facilitate Admissions, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings for special needs children.
· Notify parents and members of the ARD committee to discuss child’s problems.
· Conduct preliminary A.R.D. meeting with parents for any observable impairment at your discretion.
Transition eligible special needs children
· Compile all records needed to transfer eligible special needs children into public schools.
Regulations
· Ensure M.E. accommodations are in compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)and other laws.
· Monitor and refer any disability-related issues in the workplace to Chief Program Officer.
Documentation
· Complete required diagnostic referral forms, parent permission forms, and signed Medicaid forms.
· Monitor and review all written plans, child’s progress, and records.
· Use the database to document all activities in child folder
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
