Medical Assistant – Private Primary Care Practice
We are seeking a warm, dependable, highly organized Medical Assistant to join a new personalized primary care practice in Summerville.
This is an important role in a small practice where every team member has a direct impact on the patient experience. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys people, takes pride in doing things accurately, and is comfortable helping wherever needed as the practice grows.
The ideal candidate is personable, flexible, reliable, skilled in phlebotomy, detail-oriented, and able to take direction well while also recognizing what needs to be done.

Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Experience
- Welcome patients and create a warm, professional and personalized experience
- Room patients and obtain vital signs and medical histories
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
- Communicate with patients by phone, electronic messaging and in person
- Assist with patient follow-up and care coordination
Clinical Responsibilities
- Perform blood draws and prepare specimens for laboratory testing
- Administer injections and medications as directed by the physician
- Perform or assist with diagnostic testing and preventive screenings
- Prepare examination rooms and maintain clinical supplies
- Assist the physician during examinations and minor procedures
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in the electronic health record
Administrative Responsibilities
- Answer phones and assist with patient questions
- Schedule appointments
- Coordinate specialist referrals and follow-up appointments
- Assist with prescription refill requests
- Maintain accurate patient records
- Assist with insurance information and routine office processes
- Help maintain an organized, efficient front and back office
Practice Support
Because this is a small practice, the Medical Assistant will be expected to help where needed. This may include assisting with inventory, ordering supplies, organizing the office, preparing for patient wellness visits and helping improve office workflows as the practice grows.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Medical Assistant training or equivalent clinical experience preferred
- Strong phlebotomy skills required
- Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required depending on experience
- Phlebotomy certification is a plus
- Experience in a physician office or primary care setting preferred
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational and follow-through skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
