American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN with at least 2 years of experience and a VA or compact RN license for a 13-week day-shift assignment on a dedicated education unit.

Work on a 22-bed Dedicated Education Unit within a Medical Surgical department focused on precepting newly graduated nurses
-
Patient ratio of 1:6
-
Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
-
Every other weekend required
-
Floating required at times
-
Meditech charting system experience preferred
-
Community hospital experience preferred
-
Active RN license (VA or Compact) required
-
Current BLS certification required
-
CPI certification preferred
-
Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience required
-
Prior 1:6 patient ratio experience required
-
Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care/management
-
Experience with blood product administration and central line blood draws
-
Skills in accessing/managing ports and PICC line management preferred
-
Experience with oxygen administration, nasal cannula, and tracheostomy care/management
-
Skills in BiPAP/CPAP management and chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac) preferred
-
Experience with high flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
-
Colostomy/ileostomy management and feeding tube care experience, feeding tube care preferred
-
Medication administration experience including heparin, insulin, and PCA
-
Skilled in isolation precautions/PPE and wound care, wound vac experience preferred
-
Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care preferred
-
Cardiac monitoring and telemetry (remote monitoring) experience required
-
Serve as a preceptor supporting newly graduated nurses in developing foundational clinical skills

Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted

Candidates must not have worked as permanent staff at the facility within the past 24 months

Fit testing is required and candidates must be clean-shaven to comply, unless an approved medical exemption letter is obtained in advance

Zero-tolerance drug policy is enforced, including no acceptance of medical marijuana cards

Drug screening required during compliance and again on day one

RTO policy ties holiday coverage to the number of holidays falling within the assignment, requiring work on a proportional number of those holidays
