In this rewarding role, you will provide companionship, emotional support, and practical assistance to patients and their families. Your dedication will help create a comforting environment during challenging times, offering hope and companionship when it’s needed most. This volunteer position offers a unique opportunity to give back to the community while developing valuable skills in patient care and support. This opportunity to serve does not include a salary. This important work is strictly on a volunteer basis and time will not be paid.
Responsibilities
- Offer companionship and emotional support to patients, engaging in conversations, reading, or listening to music.
- Assist with light household tasks or errands to ease the burden on families.
- Support patients with activities of daily living as needed, respecting their dignity and preferences.
- Provide comfort through presence, active listening, and empathetic communication.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure patient comfort and well-being.
- Participate in training sessions to support to enhance your caregiving skills.
- Maintain confidentiality and document volunteer activities accurately in accordance with agency policies.

- Demonstrated ability to work compassionately with individuals from underserved communities.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to listen actively and respond empathetically.
- Ability to maintain professionalism, patience, and flexibility in a variety of situations.
- Willingness to undergo training related to hospice care practices and safety protocols.
- Strong interpersonal skills that foster trust and rapport with patients and their families.

Pay: $1.00 - $2.00 per hour
