In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to pediatric patients experiencing acute health conditions within a fast-paced hospital environment. Your expertise will support the recovery and well-being of children through meticulous patient assessment, advanced clinical interventions, and compassionate communication with families. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in critical care settings, including ICU, emergency medicine, and pediatric units, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and evidence-based care aligned with hospital standards and patient needs.

Duties
- Conduct thorough physical examinations and assess vital signs to monitor pediatric patients’ health status continuously.
- Administer medications, including IV infusions and injections, following precise protocols and ensuring patient safety.
- Manage airway maintenance with techniques such as ventilator support and oxygen therapy tailored for pediatric patients.
- Perform specialized procedures such as suturing, catheterization, tube feeding, and specimen collection while maintaining aseptic technique.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans for children in acute settings.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner to document patient information accurately and efficiently.
- Provide education and emotional support to patients’ families regarding treatment plans, medication administration, and discharge instructions.
- Assist in emergency situations by applying advanced trauma medicine skills within Level I or Level II trauma center environments.
- Conduct triage assessments in urgent care or emergency room settings to prioritize patient needs effectively.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols to safeguard patient confidentiality and safety.
- Support discharge planning by coordinating follow-up care, home health services, or referrals as appropriate.

Requirements:
Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Nursing
A valid, current, full and unrestricted Professional Nursing License to practice nursing in any state of the United States of America, The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States
Must maintain a current valid certification of the following throughout employment:
· Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
· Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association
· Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association
· Complete Pediatric Trauma Care After Resuscitation (P-CAR) within 6 months of hire
· National Institutes of Health (NIH) – NIHSS - NIH Stroke Scale must be completed (within 6 months of hire)
