The Department of Literature, Writing, and Journalism invites applications for a one-year, nine-month Visiting Assistant Professor of Communication. The expected teaching load is 12 credits (four courses) each semester. The department is seeking candidates with experience teaching practice-oriented communication courses, as well as first-year composition courses.
Actual salaries will vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to degrees attained, experience, and other considerations permitted by law. Comprehensive compensation details, including any additional benefits, will be communicated upon finalization of the employment offer.
Specific courses may include Introduction to Communication, Social Media Theory and Practice, Introduction to Public Relations, College Writing I and College Writing II. The position also includes providing motivated undergraduates with mentoring and insight into the field of communication.
Successful candidates must have an earned MA in Communication or a closely related field; a PhD is preferred. ABD candidates nearing completion will also be considered. Graduate-level training in composition and a record of publication or a professional portfolio are desired.
