ABOUT FREEDOM LOGISTICS SERVICE SOLUTIONS
Freedom Logistics Service Solutions, LLC (FLSS) is a nationwide mobile fleet service company. We go where the equipment is — installing, servicing, and supporting the hardware that keeps commercial fleets running and visible. Our Telematics team handles GPS tracking and telematics deployments across customer fleets coast to coast, and we’re growing fast.
THE ROLE
We’re looking for a Lead Telematics Technician to run the show in the field. You’re an experienced technician first — you can still out-install anyone on the crew — but on top of that you own the deployment: you set the pace, keep quality tight, train the techs working alongside you, and are the point of contact between the field and FLSS operations. When a market needs to get knocked out clean and on schedule, you’re the one making it happen.
Up front, so there are no surprises: this position involves traveling roughly 90% of the time and working 60+ hours per week while deployed. The work comes in concentrated pushes — long days to knock out a market, then on to the next — and as the lead you’re setting that pace for the crew. If being home every night or a strict 40-hour week is what you need, this isn’t the right fit. But if you’re a strong technician who likes running a crew and owning the outcome, keep reading.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Lead on-site telematics deployments end to end — plan the work, set the pace, and deliver the market clean and on schedule.
- Install, mount, wire, configure, and verify telematics / GPS hardware right alongside your crew — you’re hands-on, not just supervising.
- Own quality control — verify installs and device reporting, catch issues before they leave the site, and keep the work to FLSS standards.
- Train, coach, and direct technicians in the field, including newer techs.
- Troubleshoot the hard ones — be the go-to for the wiring, power, and connectivity problems the crew can’t crack.
- Serve as the on-site point of contact for the customer and the bridge back to FLSS operations.
- Own documentation and reporting for the deployment — unit IDs, serials, photos, completion records, and daily status back to ops.
- Manage install inventory, tools, and kits on the road; keep the crew stocked and accountable for equipment.
- Represent FLSS as the senior presence on customer sites — professional, organized, and reliable.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Significant hands-on experience installing and configuring telematics / GPS tracking systems, including platforms such as SkyBitz, Samsara, Undagrid, and Phillips Connect (or comparable systems).
- Prior experience leading, training, or coordinating a crew — formally or as the go-to person others rely on.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude — confident with wiring, connectors, power sources, and diagrams, and able to teach it.
- Sharp troubleshooting skills — you’re the one who solves the problem when the install won’t cooperate.
- Willing and able to travel approximately 90% of the time and work 60+ hour weeks, including multi-day and multi-week deployments.
- Organized and dependable — able to plan a deployment, manage people and inventory on the road, and report back clearly.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean, dependable driving record.
- Comfortable with smartphones / tablets, vendor provisioning portals, and the apps used to activate and verify devices.
NICE TO HAVE
- Background in fleet, trucking, trailer, or heavy-equipment service.
- Experience across multiple telematics vendors and their provisioning portals.
- DOT / transportation industry experience.
- A track record of running traveling field crews.
