Teacher's Assistant - Pre-School
Schedule: 16 hours a week (four hours per day, M, T, TH, F)
Essential Duties:
- supervise students during lunch, rest and recess (inside and outside)
- set up the classroom during transitions between meals, rest and activities
- observe student habits to support overall wellness and health
- lead activities prepared by the teachers with students
- collaborate with teaching team and grade level on pedagogical projects
- provide comfort to distressed children with compassion
- active, outdoor supervision during recess and lunch periods in various weather conditions
- attend regular meetings with colleagues; regularly monitor FASNY email
- other duties as assigned by the Teacher or the Division Head
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of current safety & security protocols
- Current knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices in preschool education
- Outstanding personal and interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- The ability to work with a diversity of individuals and groups, including teachers and staff, students and parents
- Excellent problem solving skills to analyze issues and create action plans
- The ability to adapt to changing work priorities
- Be flexible, open, patient and empathetic
- Ability to exercise professional judgment at all times
