JOB SUMMARY
General Description
Provides direct and indirect patient care in the office/clinic setting. Obtains patient medical history and vital signs. Prepares and maintains treatment areas. Meets the communication needs of the patient/family, office/clinic staff, and the medical staff.
Responsibility
Performs initial-response screening following protocols approved by supervising provider. Obtain, evaluate, and record patient history employing critical thinking skills. Obtain vital signs. Maintains correct patient identification, patient records and confidentiality of patient information, supplies, and equipment for patient care and clinic management. Receives, verifies, and signs for clinic deliveries. Keeps informed as to whereabouts of patients, nurses and providers. Assists with assessments, documentation, and provides emotional support to patients. Assists providers and adheres to principles of infection control and general policies of the department.
Accountability
Reports directly to the Clinic Manager.
Special Demands
Mental: Physical/emotional stamina with the ability to perform effectively in stressful situations at times. Must have the ability to adjust and interact with a wide variety of job situations involving many different people and projects.
Physical: Near visual acuity is required for almost constant review of typed and hand-written material. Reaches for and handles files, forms, correspondence, and telephone. Long periods of standing, walking and heavy lifting. Exposure to blood and body fluids, unpleasant sights, smells and infectious diseases possible.
Qualifications
Education: MA – Current Colorado MA certification preferred.
LPN – Current Colorado LPN license required.
Experience: Communication and writing skills, interpersonal skills, and clerical abilities desirable. Maintains CPR certification. Good working knowledge of nursing care essentials, principles of sterile techniques and infection control. Experience/knowledge of computer systems. Ability to work collaboratively with all hospital departments. Excellent customer service skills.
Working Environment
Work schedule is Monday through Friday with some Saturdays. Work in clean, well-lighted, heated and air-conditioned area. Exposure to unpleasant sights, smells and infectious diseases possible. May rotate shifts and areas as staffing and census requires. May need to work overtime as need arises.
Salary Range
MA – $17.76 – $21.84, LPN – $22.54 – $27.72 per hour based on experience.
