Registered Behavior Technician - Support Staff (Experienced) – Female Adult with Intellectual Disability
Location: Hayward, CA
We are seeking an experienced behavioral support staff to work with a 24-year-old female with Intellectual Disability.
This position requires strong experience managing challenging behaviors and safety risks. This is not an entry-level role.
The support staff will provide 1:1 support at home and in the community, focusing on:
- Building independence and daily living skills
- Supporting emotional regulation and communication
- Facilitating community engagement and social experiences
- Implementing behavioral support strategies
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 supervision at home in the community
- Implement behavior support strategies and crisis prevention techniques
- Maintain structure, visual schedules, and consistent boundaries
- Support emotional regulation and coping skill development
- Assist with hygiene routines and daily living skills
- Facilitate safe community integration activities
- Collaborate closely with parent and support team
Challenging Behaviors Include:
- Tantrum behaviors (e.g., yelling, crying, repetitive questioning)
- Mild physical aggression (e.g., swiping, throwing items)
- Impulsive aggression when overstimulated
- Sensory dysregulation
- Limited stranger awareness and poor safety judgment
Staff must be physically able to intervene safely if needed and maintain a calm, regulated presence at all times.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience supporting individuals with Autism developmental disabilities, or behavioral support
- Knowledge of behavioral intervention strategies (ABA-informed preferred)
- Crisis prevention/de-escalation skills
- Ability to implement structured routines and visual supports
- Strong emotional regulation and professional boundaries
- Background in ABA, RBT, ILS, or caregiving preferred
- Experience working in home and community settings
- Reliable transportation (for community support roles)
Competitive hourly rate (based on experience) $35-$40/hr
Schedule:
- Mon-Fri 4pm to7 pm or 4:30 to 7:30pm
- Sat and Sun 12noon to 3:30pm or 3:30pm to 7:00pm
