HTC is seeking a motivated survey crew member to support our growing surveying team in team in Napoleonville, LA.
As a survey crew member, you will assist in measuring and mapping land / construction sites by setting up equipment, gathering field measurements, and marking boundaries.
- Equipment Setup: Transport, assemble, and position surveying instruments such as tripods, total stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, and digital levels
- Data Collection & Staking: Hold leveling rods, prism poles, or-grade markers, and help measure distances, angles, and elevations. Clear brush or obstacles from sightlines when necessary
- Site Marking: Drive stakes, set iron pins, or paint marks on the ground to designate property boundaries, construction layout or topographic features
- Field Notes: keep clear, accurate handwritten notes or digital entries regarding measurements, landmarks, and daily activities
- Equipment Maintenance: Clean, pack, and inspect gear daily to ensure tools remain properly calibrated and functional
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; 1-3 years of field experience preferred
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn how to use tools such as Global Positioning System (GPS/GNSS) receivers, total stations, and digital data
- Strong teamwork, clear verbal communications, and attention to detail
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various locations (limited out of town work)
- Ability to work cooperatively outdoors in various weather conditions and to walk long distances over uneven terrain
- Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints, site maps, technical drawings, maps and property descriptions
