MUNICIPAL COURT CLERK
STATUS: Full-time, Non-Exempt (Job Grade 8)
SALARY RANGE: $23.50 - $32.86 /hour (starting pay based on qualifications)
HOURS: Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. – with possible occasional evening court sessions to be held after 5:00 pm.

POSITION SUMMARY
The City of Creve Coeur is seeking a detail-oriented, professional Municipal Court Clerk to perform advanced administrative work in a modern court environment. Reporting to the Court Administrator, this role serves as a key liaison between the local judiciary, legal professionals, and the public. Operating within the 21st Judicial Circuit Court of St. Louis County, you will manage case records, process payments, support court dockets, and uphold public trust with character-driven professionalism.

The Municipal Court Clerk plays a critical role in upholding public trust and maintaining administrative excellence at the Creve Coeur Government Center (located at 300 N. New Ballas Road).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
In accordance with the City's Performance Appraisal system, the following eight essential functions represent the core duties and corresponding evaluation weights for the Municipal Court Clerk position. These functions have been modernly integrated with active court systems (including Case.net dockets, digital communication portals, and virtual hearing setups) to ensure high-performance municipal court operations.
- Case & File Management: Import case filings, issue appearance notices, review electronic attorney entries/pleadings via Missouri Case.net. Prepare cases for Circuit Court transfers.
- Court Session Support: Serve as court cashier during in-person and virtual court sessions (Webex). Set up payment plans, manage digital queues, record post-hearing dispositions, and disburse required paperwork.
- Payment Processing: Daily processing of walk-in, drop-box, mail, and web (Ncourt) payments. Balance daily deposits across active and legacy court software systems.
- Public & Legal Communications: Respond to public inquiries via phone, walk-in, and court email. Direct prosecutorial/discovery matters to the Prosecutor’s office to maintain administrative neutrality.
- State Reporting: Maintain court operations data and file required compliance reports with the State of Missouri.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and certifications:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required. Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice, Legal Studies, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: 1+ years of administrative experience (2+ years in a municipal court, legal department, or law firm highly preferred).
- Certifications: Missouri Association for Court Administration (MACA) certification (or progress toward obtaining certification upon hire).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Missouri Case.net, legacy court systems, virtual hearing platforms (Webex), and Microsoft Office / Google Workspace.
- Background Check: Must be bondable and successfully pass a law enforcement background check and fingerprinting.
- Core Abilities: Typing speed of 50+ WPM; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to remain calm in high-stress customer interactions and lift/move heavy case files as needed.
