Position Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for key aspects of Kirsh Foundry’s accounting and financial reporting processes. This position plays an important role in the monthly and year-end close, account reconciliations, financial analysis, audit preparation, and maintenance of effective accounting controls.
The Senior Accountant works closely with the CFO and other departments to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information, identify opportunities for process improvement, and provide meaningful financial information to support business decisions.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
1. Manage assigned portions of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, financial statements, and management reporting. Analyze financial results and variances while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger.
2. Maintain accurate accounting records in accordance with U.S. GAAP and Company policies, including appropriate account classification, fixed assets, banking, and cash management activities. Provide backup support for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll, and other accounting functions as needed.
3. Support effective accounting procedures and internal controls while identifying opportunities to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness of accounting processes. Assist with process documentation, automation, and other accounting improvements.
4. Prepare schedules, workpapers, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for financial statement, benefit plan, 401K, and other required audits.
5. Provide support for inventory accounting, physical inventory, cycle counts, standard costing, inventory valuation, and manufacturing variance analysis as needed. Develop knowledge of the Company's costing and inventory processes to provide additional support over time.
6. Work with Operations, Purchasing, Sales, and other departments to resolve accounting issues and provide accurate financial information to management. Serve as an accounting resource and assist with special projects and other responsibilities assigned by the CFO or executive team.
Qualifications
Required
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience.
· Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and U.S. GAAP, including experience with month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office, along with strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments with a high level of accuracy, integrity, attention to detail, and professional judgment.
Preferred
· CPA, CMA, advanced degree, or progress toward professional certification.
· Accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, including exposure to inventory, standard costing, or manufacturing accounting.
· Experience with ERP systems; B&L Odyssey experience is a plus.
· Experience with Crystal Reports, business intelligence/reporting tools, budgeting, forecasting, or financial analysis.
This position's schedule is Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm, with flexibility of hours as needed. While a permanent hybrid schedule is not set up, there are work-from-home opportunities as needed as well.
Pay: $80,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
