The MetroWest YMCA is seeking a part-time School Bus Driver to provide safe transportation to and from program sites while maintaining a supportive and positive atmosphere. Licensing is REQUIRED. Please see Required Qualifications section BEFORE applying. This position will provide support in other areas as assigned.
Primary work location is Wayland, MA area. Occasional flexibility to support other MetroWest YMCA School’s Out locations (Ashland, Framingham, Hopkinton, Natick, and Wayland) may be required.
Working hours are 1:30pm to 4:30pm Monday through Friday. Longer hours are anticipated 5-6 times per year on Wednesdays.
Hourly pay of up to $35.00 per hour based on experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Operate bus safely according to YMCA policies and procedures and state laws.
- Maintain all required school bus or restricted school bus certifications and safe driving standards.
- Complete thorough before and after trip checks each day and records all information including gas level, mileage and maintenance on designated forms. Cleans out bus each day.
- Promote safety at all times by keeping first aid supplies fully stocked.
- Develop positive relationships among staff, volunteers, parents, and children.
- Effectively communicate with other staff members and supervisor.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Valid Class A, B, C, or D Massachusetts driver's license held continuously for at least three years with a clean driving record
- Valid Massachusetts driver’s license with “S” and “P” endorsements
- Must possess a Massachusetts restricted school bus certificate or Massachusetts school bus certificate
- Must pass a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI), Sex Offender Registry Information (SORI) back, and nationwide background check
- Ability to meet all MetroWest YMCA hiring requirements, including EEC background check requirements
- Up-to-date medical card/physical and must pass Department of Transportation (DOT) physical exam as required
- CPR/AED and First Aid certified
- Ability to work with children
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to pass all Massachusetts school bus or restricted school bus certification requirements including physical examination, vision screening, and written knowledge exam
- Ability to sit for long periods of time
- Ability to respond to emergency situations
- Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environment and other hazards
