Process Engineer performs process system analysis, safety system analysis, quality system analysis and recommends solutions. Works with department personnel, technical staff, vendors and facility support personnel to develop and implement projects and problem resolutions. Performs process troubleshooting, de-bottlenecking, long-term/short-term analyses on operations.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Troubleshoot existing plant operations and implement new process improvement ideas to ensure that Westlake meets KPI's for Personnel Health/Safety, Environmental Protection, Raw Material Usage, Production, and Operating Costs.

Monitor plant conformance to safety and environmental regulations. Perform process calculations as required to assist Safety and Environmental groups. Recommend process improvements and initiate new projects to meet new Safety/Environmental regulations and/or improve compliance with existing regulations.

Monitor and analyze plant raw material and utility usages. Recommend appropriate plant operating conditions and process controls as required to optimize raw material and utility efficiencies.
- Monitor daily plant operating conditions. Report concise key operating information to production personnel.

Monitor equipment uptimes and maintenance requirements for key process equipment. Conduct detailed process equipment inspections and recommend repairs.
- Monitor plant lab test results.
- Coordinate plant process revisions, ensure that appropriate MOCs have been initiated, and assist with updating procedures and training. Incorporate process revisions into existing plant PFDs and P&IDs.
- Do detailed process material and energy balances on unit operations as required. Collect and evaluate process data for special plant studies and test projects. Summarize and report results.
- Develop new plant project scopes and evaluate project justification. Perform project raw material and energy balance calculations, develop project: PFDs, P&IDs, and process equipment specifications. Develop project operating procedures and assist production with training and startup.
Minimum Qualifications:

B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering with at least 2 years' experience.

Ability to use PC and various software applications essential to technical performance. Demonstrable written and verbal communications. Knowledge of chemical engineering unit operations and process control.
