Medical/Surgical Unit Registered Nurse
Brown University Health - Rhode Island Hospital
Providence, Rhode Island
As Rhode Island’s largest health system and private employer, Brown University Health is dedicated to improving the health of the people within our communities. We are seeking Registered Nurses for our Adult Medical floor:
Main 9 is a 15–25 bed (flex) Medical/Surgical unit at Rhode Island Hospital that primarily admits patients from the Emergency Department, creating a fast‑paced environment with generally shorter lengths of stay. Nurses on Main 9 care for a diverse medical population, including patients requiring telemetry monitoring to support early identification of clinical changes. The unit’s workflow is strengthened by direct RN‑to‑attending communication through IMIS, allowing nurses to collaborate closely with physicians and maintain clear, efficient care plans. With multiple‑patient rooms, patient placement is thoughtfully managed to ensure safety and balanced acuity. The Discharge Lounge, located on Main 9, supports hospital‑wide throughput and provides nurses with valuable experience in coordinating safe, timely discharges. Nurses on Main 9 gain strong foundational med‑surg experience, exposure to a broad mix of clinical presentations, and proficiency in essential skills within a supportive, team‑oriented environment that values adaptability, communication, and high‑quality patient care.
Full-time and part-time opportunities – 36 hours and 24 hours per week – day and night shifts available.
