We are looking for a detail oriented, safety-focused team player to join our manufacturing team. In the role you will be responsible for building, repairing and troubleshooting tooling and fixtures that support manufacturing operations.
What will you be doing?
- Reads and interprets blueprints, drawings, and written and verbal instructions.
- Plan and perform setup and operation of machine shop equipment, selecting appropriate tooling, materials, machine speeds, feeds, coolants, and lubricants.
- Manufacture, modify, repair, and maintain tooling, dies, jigs, fixtures, and precision components.
- Perform heat treating, welding, grinding, milling, turning, drilling, and other machining operations as required.
- Conduct inspections before, during, and after machining operations to maintain quality standards.
- Perform hand-finishing operations using trade-specific hand tools and equipment.
- Assist with troubleshooting, repair, and overhaul of production equipment, including punch presses and related machinery, as needed.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Product Design teams to provide input on manufacturability and tooling requirements for new products.
- Participate in processes and programs aimed at continuous improvement and safety.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What will you need to be successful?
- High school diploma or completion of a formal Tool & Die or Machinist apprenticeship program preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in tooling, fixtures, and machine setup preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints with a thorough understanding of geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
- Proficiency using precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, and other inspection tools.
- Strong mathematical skills, including geometry and trigonometry, to calculate machining dimensions and processes.
- Working knowledge of machining practices, machine tool setup, tooling selection, feeds, speeds, and cutting techniques.
- Basic computer proficiency and strong troubleshooting/problem-solving abilities.
- Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to exert 10 to 25 pounds of force sometimes.
- Ability to work effectively with others in a team environment
