PAY: Pay for the 2026-27 school year ranges from $48,925 to $94,049, plus 12 extra days. Placement is dependent on verifiable experience and education level.
RETIREMENT CONTRIBUTION: The North Santiam School District participates in the Oregon Public Employee Retirement System (PERS and OPSRP) on behalf of its employees. Upon eligibility, the district contributes 6% of an employee’s salary to their Individual Account Program (IAP). Eligibility is defined as working at least six full calendar months in a qualifying position. Part-time employees working at least six months and 600 hours in a calendar year will qualify.

Position Purpose:
The Dean of Students is a leadership role designed to support Future-Ready Graduates by strategically focusing on academic, social-emotional, and behavioral support for all students, staff, and families. Aligned with the district's guiding principle to "Do what is best for all kids!", the Dean assists building administration in cultivating a school culture conducive to rigorous learning and excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Student Behavior and School Culture

Discipline Management: Implement effective student discipline procedures and maintain accurate documentation related to behavior.

Positive Behavior Support: Collaborate with administration to refine behavior management systems, including PBIS, Restorative Justice, and Wayfinder implementation.

Supervision: Provide active supervision during unstructured times, such as recess, lunch, passing times, and bus duty, ensuring a safe and orderly environment.

Conflict Resolution: Assist students in resolving friend, social, or social-emotional issues through restorative circles and individual coaching.
2. Leadership and Staff Support

Instructional Resource: Serve as a resource to staff regarding classroom management and behavioral expectations.

Administrative Support: Assist the Principal in daily emergencies and represent the administration when building leaders are off-campus.

Data-Informed Improvement: Collect and analyze attendance and discipline data to identify trends and build intervention groups.
3. Community and Family Engagement

Communication: Maintain a positive rapport with families and communicate regularly regarding student attendance, discipline, and success.

Partnerships: Collaborate with community agencies (mental health, law enforcement, etc.) to support student and family needs.
Position Could Include:
Recognizing that building needs vary, this position may include one or more of the following specialized assignments as directed by the Building Administrator:

Instructional Duties: Teaching an AVID elective or other core/elective classes as assigned.

Program Direction: Serving as the building Athletic Director or Director of Preschool.

Classified Staff Management: Providing feedback on performance, managing schedules/breaks, and leading professional development for instructional assistants.

Building Coordination: Serving as the TAG Coordinator, 504 Coordinator, or State Testing Coordinator.

Extra-Curricular Oversight: Supervising after-school programs, clubs, and athletic events.
Minimum Qualifications

Education: College degree in education or a suitable field.

Licensure: Valid Oregon Teaching License issued through TSPC.

Experience: Proven leadership experience in a district or building-level role.
Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Education or Educational Leadership.

3-10 years of successful classroom teaching experience.

Training in AVID methodologies, Wayfinder, and PBIS implementation.

Bilingual and multi-cultural competency.
