JOB
Performs intermediate protective service work processing inmates, maintaining detention center security, transporting inmates to court, medical and related facilities, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Detention Sergeant.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Ensures the safety and security of inmates within the County jail; controls inmates by performing routine facility checks and conducting head counts.Receives and processes inmates into custody of institution; searches prisoners; takes charge of personal property.Escorts and transports inmates to court and other required appointments.Oversees the handling and distribution of medications and meals.Supervises inmate worker details.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
High school diploma or GED and minimal experience in law enforcement, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Special RequirementsDetention Officer certification within one year of hireCPR/First AidValid driver's license
