Data Services Technician
Washington Community Schools is seeking a Data Services Technician. This person will be responsible for a variety of maintenance, repair, and installation tasks related to technology as well as facility and HVAC systems. We are looking for a self starter with good customer service and troubleshooting skills that manages time well and is able to prioritize tasks. Experience with electrical, hvac, or general construction tasks preferred. This position reports to the Technology Director and Assistant Tech Director and is a year round position with typical work hours of 5:30am-2:00pm M-F. Basic duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Technology

Troubleshooting, maintenance, and installation of classroom technology, such as projectors and audio systems

Projector bulb replacement
-
Annual cleaning of all projector filters

General cabling needs (Phone, Network, Intercom, Fire Alarm, etc.)

Cleaning data closets and equipment
-
Cleaning a/c units in data closets
-
Intercom troubleshooting and repair
-
Assisting technology director and assistant technology director with technology projects
-
Assisting with technical support requests as needed
Maintenance / Electrical
-
Facility electrical repairs and troubleshooting
-
Receptacles, Switches, Light fixtures, Motors
-
Manage aluminum conductor inspections
-
Emergency Lighting systems
-
Testing and monitoring
-
Keeping records of emergency lighting tests
-
Replacing Bulbs
-
Installing conduit
-
Fire alarm cabling and repairs (in partnership with maintenance staff)
-
Working with contractors / gathering quotes for electrical projects
-
Electrical equipment repair for electronics break/fix insurance policy
-
HVAC maintenance and repairs
-
Identify electrical, cabling, and electronic issues in all facilities and maintain a list of needs

Assist maintenance staff on projects requiring electrical work

In charge of scissor lift maintenance and annual inspections

Maintain inventory of electrical repair supplies
-
Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
-
Ability to lift 50 lbs from the ground

Ability to perform work over your head

Comfort with heights and using ladders
-
Operating a scissor lift (Lift safety training will be provided and required)

Ability to operate hand and power tools

Valid Iowa Drivers License

Ability to pass a background check
