Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our reputable dental practice. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care, performing dental cleanings, and assisting with various clinical procedures. Duties
- Perform dental prophylaxis, scaling, root planning, and polishing procedures to maintain optimal oral health.
- Take and interpret dental x-rays using digital imaging equipment while ensuring proper radiation safety protocols.
- Assess patient vital signs and medical history to identify any health concerns that may impact dental treatment.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions.
- Assist with chairside procedures including providing support during restorative treatments, extractions, and other dental interventions.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient assessments, treatment plans, and medical records within EMR/EHR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Follow strict infection prevention management protocols, including aseptic techniques and sterilization of dental instruments and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
- Collaborate with the dental team to improve workflow efficiency using electronic health records management and documentation review processes.
- Support pediatric dentistry procedures by applying specialized techniques suitable for children and adolescents.
- Assist in training new staff on infection control standards, dental terminology, and the use of dental equipment.
Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current CPR certification.
- Proven experience in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, or dental clinic settings is preferred.
- Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for charting, scheduling, and record management.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, dental terminology, and medical coding practices.
- Experience with medical imaging techniques including X-ray procedures specific to dentistry.
- Familiarity with infection prevention management, aseptic techniques, and healthcare infection control standards.
- Excellent communication skills for client interaction and patient education across diverse age groups including pediatrics.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and patient care quality.
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance management and maintaining patient confidentiality is essential.
