Position Summary
WPA is seeking a creative, strategic, and mission-driven Marketing & Communications Manager to lead the organization’s marketing, communications, and outreach efforts. This position is responsible for increasing awareness of WPA’s mission, programs, services, and impact through strategic marketing, storytelling, digital communications, public relations, publications, and audience engagement.
The Marketing & Communications Manager will develop and execute marketing and communications strategies, manage WPA’s communications platforms, create compelling content, oversee digital engagement efforts, coordinate multimedia communications, and support organizational growth through effective outreach and brand management.
This position serves as the primary marketing and communications resource for WPA, including managing relationships with external communications partners such as consultants and other creative vendors. The role also serves as editor of the Wisconsin Parkinson Magazine, oversees podcast communications, supports program and event promotion, and helps strengthen WPA’s visibility throughout the community.
The ideal candidate is a strong storyteller, excellent communicator, creative problem-solver, and organized project manager who can translate WPA’s mission and impact into meaningful communications that connect with individuals, families, supporters, partners, and the broader community.
This is a hybrid position with the majority of work completed remotely from a home office, with occasional in-person meetings, events, and team collaboration opportunities as needed.
Essential Responsibilities
Marketing & Communications Strategy
- Develop and implement integrated marketing and communications strategies that support WPA’s mission, programs, services, fundraising efforts, events, and organizational goals.
- Strengthen WPA’s brand awareness and visibility through consistent messaging, storytelling, and strategic outreach.
- Create communications plans that engage key audiences, including individuals affected by Parkinson’s, caregivers, donors, volunteers, partners, and community stakeholders.
- Collaborate with leadership and program team to identify communications priorities and opportunities.
- Evaluate marketing and communications efforts through analytics, engagement data, and performance insights.
Content Creation & Brand Storytelling
- Create, write, edit, and manage content for newsletters, websites, social media, campaigns, press releases, publications, and promotional materials.
- Develop meaningful stories that highlight WPA’s programs, community impact, partnerships, and mission-driven work.
- Maintain consistent brand voice, messaging, and visual standards across all communication channels.
- Manage editorial calendars and coordinate content planning across departments.
- Repurpose content across multiple platforms to maximize reach and engagement.
Digital Marketing & Social Media Management
- Manage WPA’s digital communications presence, including social media platforms, email communications, website content, and online engagement efforts.
- Develop, schedule, and publish engaging content across platforms.
- Monitor audience engagement, trends, and analytics to improve communications strategies.
- Create digital campaigns that increase awareness, participation, and community connection.
- Manage online interactions and support positive engagement with WPA audiences.
Wisconsin Parkinson Magazine Editorial Leadership
- Serve as editor of the Wisconsin Parkinson Magazine, overseeing editorial planning, content development, production timelines, and publication coordination.
- Develop article ideas, coordinate submissions, edit content, and ensure publication quality and consistency.
- Collaborate with contributors, writers, photographers, designers, and internal teams.
- Ensure magazine content reflects WPA’s mission, values, and the needs of the Parkinson’s community.
Podcast & Multimedia Communications
- Manage WPA’s podcast communications, including planning, production coordination, editing, publishing, and promotion.
- Edit podcast audio/video and prepare episodes for distribution across podcast platforms.
- Manage podcast platforms, including uploading episodes, creating descriptions, scheduling releases, and tracking performance.
- Develop promotional materials, including social media posts, graphics, clips, and digital campaigns to increase reach.
- Coordinate with hosts, guests, and internal teams to support successful podcast production.
- Repurpose podcast content into additional marketing and communications materials.
Event & Program Marketing Support
- Assist in the development of event and program marketing strategies, promotional plans, and communications schedules.
- Coordinate related promotional project activities, including content development, outreach, timelines, and communications support.
- Collaborate with program teams to promote WPA events, services, and initiatives.
- Support event-related communications through social media, website updates, email campaigns, and promotional materials.
- Serve as a liaison to community fundraising events benefiting WPA, providing marketing support, communications guidance, and coordination to strengthen awareness and engagement.
External Marketing & Communications Partnerships
- Serve as the primary liaison with external marketing and communications partners, including consultants, designers, and other creative vendors.
- Coordinate project timelines, deliverables, approvals, and communications needs.
- Provide direction and feedback to ensure external work aligns with WPA’s brand, mission, and strategic goals.
- Manage relationships with outside partners to support effective marketing and communications initiatives.
Website & Digital Platform Management
- Manage and update website content to ensure information is accurate, timely, accessible, and aligned with organizational priorities.
- Support email marketing efforts and digital communications campaigns.
- Maintain communications platforms and tools to improve audience experience and engagement.
- Monitor digital performance and recommend improvements.
Public Relations & Community Outreach
- Support public relations efforts through media communications, announcements, and community storytelling.
- Promote WPA programs, services, events, and initiatives through strategic communications.
- Build relationships with community partners, supporters, and stakeholders.
- Represent WPA’s mission and values through professional communications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in marketing, communications, digital media, public relations, or nonprofit communications.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Experience managing social media platforms, digital communications, and content strategies.
- Experience with editorial planning, publications, or magazine/newsletter production preferred.
- Experience with podcast production, audio editing, or multimedia content creation preferred.
- Experience managing external vendors, consultants, or creative partners.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining strong collaboration with a team.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $55,000–$60,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Work Environment
This position is designed as a hybrid role with the majority of responsibilities completed remotely from a home office. The successful candidate should be comfortable managing projects independently, collaborating virtually with staff and external partners, and attending occasional in-person meetings, events, and community activities.
Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
