Loose Cannon Industries is seeking an experienced Structural & Miscellaneous Steel Estimator to join our team in Kyle, Texas.
This position requires a self-sufficient estimator who can take projects from bid invitation through proposal with minimal supervision. We are not looking for an entry-level estimator and do not have the capacity to provide training.
Responsibilities
- Perform quantity takeoffs for structural steel and miscellaneous metals.
- Review architectural, structural, and civil drawings and specifications.
- Prepare accurate and competitive estimates.
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing.
- Identify scope gaps, exclusions, and value engineering opportunities.
- Prepare bid proposals and clarifications.
- Conduct site visits and pre-bid walks to evaluate existing conditions and project requirements.
- Attend client meetings, preconstruction meetings, and job walks as needed.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, owners, architects, and other clients.
- Coordinate with project management and operations during project turnover.
- Manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of estimating experience in structural steel and miscellaneous metals.
- Experience estimating stairs, railings, embeds, canopies, lintels, ornamental metals, and structural steel packages.
- Proficient in Bluebeam Revu for digital takeoffs. Experience with other estimating software is welcome.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and Division 05 scopes.
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Preferred
- Experience with commercial construction.
- Knowledge of fabrication and erection processes.
- Familiarity with Procore, Microsoft Office, and Excel.
Minimum 5 years of estimating experience in structural and miscellaneous steel is required. Candidates must be able to perform all estimating functions independently.
Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
