Job Summary
Join our dedicated team as a Respite & Community Hab Aide, where you will play a vital role in providing compassionate support and care to a 21 year old young woman with developmental disabilities, autism, and other special needs. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in her life by fostering independence, promoting social engagement, and ensuring safety within home and community settings. Duties
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation, promoting independence and dignity.
- Implement behavior management strategies to support positive behavior and social skills development.
- Support communication efforts using techniques like American Sign Language or other augmentative communication methods.
- Facilitate engaging activities that promote social interaction, skill-building, and community participation.
- Collect data on progress, behaviors, and service delivery to inform care plans and ensure compliance with documentation standards.
- Administer medications following prescribed protocols when required, ensuring safety and accuracy.
- Provide transportation assistance by driving clients to appointments, activities, or community outings while maintaining safety protocols.
- Support families through caregiving tasks and provide respite to primary caregivers by offering reliable companionship and supervision.
- Maintain detailed records of services provided, client progress, and incidents as part of ongoing documentation efforts.
Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or related conditions is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of special education principles, behavioral health practices, and behavior management techniques.
- Strong communication skills
- Background in home and community care environments with experience assisting with ADLs and providing direct support.
- Ability to handle behavioral challenges with patience and effective strategies.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for transportation duties.
- Experience in caregiving roles such as childcare or social work is advantageous.
- Competency in data collection, medication administration protocols, and maintaining confidentiality.
