Automotive Service Manager – Sales & Growth
Location: Sugar Land, TX
Job Type: Full-Time
About the Position
We are an established independent automotive repair shop in the Sugar Land area looking for an experienced Automotive Service Manager who can take ownership of front-of-house operations and help drive the growth of the business.
We are specifically looking for someone with a strong automotive service sales background who understands how to increase sales while building long-term customer trust.
This is not simply a service-writing position. We want someone who can manage the customer experience, maximize repair opportunities, coordinate technicians, improve Average Repair Order (ARO), and help us consistently grow monthly sales.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive daily, weekly and monthly service sales
- Increase Average Repair Order (ARO) through thorough inspections and proper repair recommendations
- Convert estimates and technician findings into approved repair work
- Clearly explain repairs, maintenance and priorities to customers
- Help customers understand what needs attention now, what can wait, and what should be planned
- Follow up on declined work, open estimates and previous recommendations
- Build repeat business and long-term customer relationships
- Review technician inspections and diagnostic findings
- Assign and prioritize repair work between technicians
- Keep technicians productive and repair jobs moving efficiently
- Monitor repair orders from vehicle check-in through completion
- Coordinate parts ordering and availability
- Maintain appropriate labor and parts margins
- Track open repair orders, pending approvals and daily sales opportunities
- Maintain accurate customer and repair-order documentation
- Handle customer concerns professionally
- Deliver an excellent customer experience from the initial phone call through vehicle pickup
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience as an Automotive Service Manager, Service Advisor, or similar automotive service-sales position
- Strong automotive service and repair knowledge
- Proven ability to sell automotive repairs and services
- Comfortable working toward sales and performance goals
- Understanding of ARO, labor hours, parts margins and shop profitability
- Ability to turn technician inspections into clear customer recommendations
- Strong communication and customer-service skills
- Ability to build trust without unnecessary or high-pressure upselling
- Good organizational and follow-up skills
- Ability to manage multiple repair orders and technicians simultaneously
- Leadership mentality with a strong sense of accountability
- Tekmetric experience strongly preferred
- Independent repair-shop experience preferred
Who Will Succeed in This Role?
We want someone who thinks beyond the front counter and constantly looks for opportunities to improve the business:
How many sales opportunities do we have today?
Which estimates are waiting for approval?
What previously declined work should we follow up on?
Are the technicians staying productive?
Are customers being properly informed about their vehicles?
How can we increase today's sales while earning the customer's future business?
Our goal is to grow through good service, proper recommendations, strong follow-up and customer trust — not high-pressure selling.
If you have experience growing automotive service sales and believe you can make a measurable difference in an independent repair shop, we'd like to speak with you.
