Job Title: Dock Hand
Marina Dockhand
Tennessee National | Watts Bar Lake, TN
About the Role
Tennessee National is a growing lakefront community on Watts Bar Lake, and our marina is where much of daily life here happens. We're looking for a Marina Dockhand who takes pride in keeping the docks running smoothly and makes every slip owner, member, and guest feel like a neighbor. You'll be the friendly, capable presence on the water, helping boats in and out, keeping the marina clean and safe, and delivering the kind of hands-on service that keeps people coming back season after season.
This is a great fit for someone who loves being outdoors, enjoys working with people, and wants to be part of a community that's building something special on the lake.
What You'll Do
- Greet and assist boaters arriving and departing, including catching lines, securing vessels, and helping guests dock safely
- Operate the fuel dock, including pumping fuel, processing transactions, and following all safety and spill-prevention procedures
- Assist with boat rentals, including check-in and check-out, walk-throughs with guests, and basic operational instruction
- Keep docks, walkways, restrooms, and common areas clean, organized, and free of hazards
- Monitor slips and report maintenance issues, loose lines, low batteries, or anything that needs attention
- Assist with pump-out services, ice, and ship store sales as needed
- Move, stage, and shuttle boats as directed by the Marina Manager or Assistant Marina Manager
- Support marina events, holiday weekends, and peak-season operations with a positive, all-hands attitude
What We're Looking For
- A friendly, dependable team player who enjoys being on the water and around people
- Comfort working outdoors in all weather, including hot summer weekends and holiday rushes
- Ability to lift 50 pounds, stand and walk for extended periods, and work safely on and around docks
- Basic boat handling knowledge or willingness to learn quickly (we'll train the right person)
- Strong attention to safety and detail
- Availability to work weekends, holidays, and peak-season hours (this is when the marina is busiest and the most fun)
- Must be at least 16 years old; valid driver's license preferred
- Prior marina, boating, hospitality, or customer service experience is a plus but not required
Why Tennessee National
You won't just be working at a marina. You'll be part of one of the fastest-growing lake communities in East Tennessee, with a front-row seat to life on Watts Bar Lake. We offer a fun, supportive team environment, on-the-job training, and the chance to grow with us as the community and marina continue to expand.
