Position Summary
The Test Technician is responsible for the setup, testing, troubleshooting, inspection, and documentation of electro-mechanical assemblies and subassemblies, including door operators, Door Motor Control Units (DMCUs), Door Control Relay Panels (DCRPs), and other rail transit products. This role ensures all products meet engineering specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements prior to shipment.
The Test Technician works closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and ERP teams to identify and resolve technical issues while supporting continuous improvement initiatives and maintaining a safe, organized work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Testing & Verification
- Set up and perform functional, electrical, and mechanical testing of door operators, DMCUs, DCRPs, and other assemblies using designated testing equipment.
- Execute testing procedures according to work instructions, engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
- Perform Run Test Procedures (RTP) on completed assemblies and subassemblies.
- Verify product functionality, performance, and compliance with established acceptance criteria.
- Upload and validate software and firmware revisions on DMCUs and related electronic devices.
- Monitor testing equipment and interfaces to ensure accurate test execution.
Troubleshooting & Problem Solving
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, software, and assembly-related issues.
- Identify root causes of test failures and collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to implement corrective actions.
- Recommend improvements to testing methods, procedures, and equipment.
- Escalate recurring issues and technical concerns to appropriate departments.
Documentation & Quality Control
- Record test results accurately and maintain required production and quality documentation.
- Complete inspection reports, test records, and non-conformance documentation as required.
- Verify that all products meet blueprint, schematic, specification, and work instruction requirements.
- Support quality investigations and corrective action activities when necessary.
- Ensure traceability and documentation accuracy within company systems.
Technical Operations
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, technical drawings, and work instructions.
- Operate testing equipment, computer interfaces, hand tools, and power tools safely and effectively.
- Maintain testing stations, equipment, and software to support efficient operations.
- Assist with validation of new products, revisions, and testing processes.
Continuous Improvement & Teamwork
- Participate actively in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Communicate effectively with Production, Engineering, Quality, Planning, and Management teams.
- Share technical knowledge and support training of new employees when required.
- Contribute to achieving production, quality, and delivery objectives.
Safety & Housekeeping
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Report safety concerns, hazards, and equipment issues immediately.
- Participate in safety training and compliance initiatives.
Other Duties
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Technical diploma in Electronics, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in testing, troubleshooting, manufacturing, assembly, or related technical environment preferred.
- Experience with electro-mechanical assemblies, industrial controls, or rail industry products considered an asset.
Technical Skills
- Ability to test and troubleshoot assemblies and subassemblies.
- Experience performing Run Test Procedures (RTP).
- Ability to upload and validate DMCU software revisions.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Strong computer literacy and ability to work with testing software and interfaces.
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment safely.
- Understanding of quality control and inspection processes.

Work Schedule
Full-Time
Available shifts:
- Day shift/Tuesday – Saturday (Additional hours or overtime may be required based on production demands)

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.50 - $23.00 per hour
