About Good Intentions Coffee
We are looking for an enthusiastic barista to join our team. This role reports to the Cafe Manager. We’re hiring a barista with at least 1 year of coffee shop/cafe/specialty coffee experience.

Responsibilities:
- Prepare all coffee, espresso, and tea orders according to Good Intentions Coffee’s recipes with high standards of quality at all times, busy and slow.
- Be knowledgeable, excited, and approachable about the coffees we are roasting and pouring, the pastries we are serving, and can readily answer customer questions.
- Take, place, and serve customer orders promptly and in an organized fashion.
- Use POS system to ring up orders.
- Clear dishes, wipe down tables and surfaces, and regularly maintain a clean and organized space.
- Follow all food safety and sanitation policies at all times.
- Keep the pastry case and coffee bags well stocked and notify the Assistant Cafe Manager of any low stock.
- Exceed guests' expectations, deliver quality and attentive customer service, and be a representative of Good Intentions Coffee’s values.
- Open and/or close the coffeehouse as scheduled and according to our Standard Operating Procedures.
- Have a growth mindset–be willing to receive and act on feedback.
- Be ready to wear multiple hats and take on a variety of tasks to help support the team as a whole (i.e. occasional participation in social media content, seasonal drink development, cleaning the facility, tracking inventory, acting as shift-lead, etc.)
- Active idea-generating and sharing is encouraged and welcomed.
Minimum Requirements:
- At least one year of experience working at a coffeehouse/cafe.
- Availability on Saturday and Sunday mornings to early afternoons.
- An interest and love of all things coffee! You will be expected to taste everything and be knowledgeable on our offerings.
- High School Diploma or GED graduate preferred.
- Must hold a valid CA Food Handler’s card (we can guide you through the process of applying for this).
- Ability to multi-task and handle stress under pressure.
- Can work independently and without supervision.
- Ability to anticipate and act on any needs from team-members and customers.
- Flexibility to work holidays as required.
- Reliably and consistently arrive at the Cafe on time.
- Willingness and excitement to being trained.
Physical Requirements:
- The majority of the time, team members will be standing or walking throughout the cafe and behind the counter.
- Regularly required to talk or hear coworkers and customers. Noise level is moderate.
- Regularly using hands for gross and fine manipulation concurrently or alternately (finger, handle, feel, etc).
- Regularly using hands and arms to reach overhead.
- Occasionally sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include near, far, and peripheral visual acuity.
- Regularly tasting and smelling our menu offerings with a degree of accuracy.
- Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, and hot/cold liquids.
Bonus Qualifications:
- Bilingual.
- Knows how to create latte art and other specialized barista skills.
- Experience as a shift-lead or shift-manager.
- Experience with POS systems, cash-handling, and inventory tracking.
- Okay with being filmed / appearing in social media and content creation.

Operating Hours (subject to change)
Monday - Friday, 6:30 am to 4:00pm
Saturdays, 7:00am to 2:00pm
Sundays, 7:00am to 1:00pm
Shifts typically range from 5.5-7.5 hours. Shift schedule starts at 5:30am and ends at 4:30pm Monday through Friday, 6:00am and 2:30pm on Saturdays, 6:00am - 1:30pm Sundays.
Hourly Range:
$18.50 - 19.50/hour (commensurate to experience)
