Christ Church Cathedral in downtown Hartford invites applications for a part-time children's music teacher. Our small but growing program is designed as an enrichment offering for elementary school-age kids in our community.
We strive to instill a love of music and foster musical community, while also building the foundations for music literacy and sight-singing. Our weekly music class is 45 minutes of singing, movement, and games. There is also interest in expanding the class offering to twice each week. We are open to candidates who could teach only one session per week, or both sessions.
Christ Church Cathedral has a beautiful, well-equipped and climate-controlled choir room to serve as rehearsal space, and budget for music, snacks, incentives, and special activities. Piano accompaniment is provided, as well as classroom help.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in music education (completed or in-progress), or equivalent
Singing ability and musical literacy
Classroom management ability/experience
Love and enthusiasm for children, music, and teaching
This position works in close partnership and reports to the music director. While it will begin in September, there may potentially be a soft start during July and/or August.
