The Baker and the Cakemaker is a locally owned artisan bread bakery and café offering fresh, farm-to-fork products, artisan breads, pastries and cakes. We are committed to promoting from within, from entry level up to management.
Tuesday through Saturday availability is required. Shifts include early mornings. No evenings, and every Sunday and Monday off.
The proper candidate for this role will share our enthusiasm for high quality products, and will be committed to our culture of teamwork, creativity, and love of good food! This person will provide friendly, professional service delivering with a warm, upbeat presence.
This position is part of a small team, so reliability is extremely important. A previously demonstrated and verifiable record of dependable performance and attendance is required. We will check employer references to confirm!
Essential Functions:
- Deliver an exceptional guest experience, connecting with guests to deliver quality coffees, specialty beverages, pastries, and other food items.
- Taking guest orders and checking out (register duty)
- Execute food and beverage processes, including food running, replenishment, pulls, stocking, and inventory rotation as needed.
- Ensure pastry case is well-stocked and presentable.
- Maintain a clean, inviting dining area for guests.
- Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance.
- Using proper equipment and proper training, follow established policies and procedures.
- Perform cleaning tasks following duty rosters and cleaning standards to support the high appearance and sanitation standards of the cafe and equipment.
Minimum Qualifications (we will check employer references where applicable):
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
- One year of related experience is preferred
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
- Demonstrated record of reliability and punctuality
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must be able to lift 35 pounds and stand for long periods

- Early mornings - first-in shifts as early as 5:15am
- Shifts can vary, so staff must be able to work as early as 5:15am, with other shifts working until 5pm
- Open availability Tue-Sat for scheduling. Staff does not work Tue-Sat, rather this is the window staff must be available to be scheduled
- Must be able to work every Saturday
- Must be able to work occasional holidays, and days before and after holidays. For example, availability is required for the days before & after Thanksgiving, and Christmas Eve (we are closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas days)
- Must be able to commit to a long-term role; that is, a commitment to a year or longer. Non-enforceable, but we trust the candidate will make a good faith commitment
- A record of hard work and reliability in past positions (we will check!)
