About Us
Calibrate Network is a fast-growing third-party logistics (3PL) fulfillment company with warehouse operations in Abbeville, SC and Lincolnton, GA. We provide warehousing, order fulfillment, transportation, and logistics services for national and international brands across fashion, consumer goods, retail, wholesale, and e-commerce.
As our client base and shipping volume continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced Shipping & Freight Manager to take ownership of our outbound transportation function across both locations.
The Role
We’re hiring a Shipping & Freight Manager to oversee outbound transportation across small parcel, less-than-truckload, full truckload, and international shipping.
This is a hands-on role. You’ll work directly with carriers, warehouse leadership, operations, and client-facing teams to make sure shipments move on time, at the right cost, and according to client requirements.
You’ll manage carrier relationships, negotiate rates, troubleshoot shipping issues, monitor freight performance, and help build stronger transportation processes as Calibrate Network grows.
When a carrier misses a pickup, a retail appointment is at risk, a shipment is delayed, or a freight invoice does not match the agreement, you’ll be the person who steps in, solves the problem, and follows it through to resolution.
What You’ll Do
* Own outbound shipping operations, including domestic parcel, LTL, full truckload, and international shipments
* Coordinate routing, carrier pickups, delivery appointments, and retail compliance requirements
* Manage domestic small-parcel shipments to consumer customers, ensuring accuracy, cost efficiency, and on-time delivery
* Oversee international shipments, including documentation, customs coordination, and import/export compliance
* Serve as the main escalation point for missed pickups, delayed freight, shipping-label errors, mis-shipments, damage, and delivery exceptions
* Manage day-to-day relationships with parcel, freight, regional, and international carriers
* Negotiate carrier rates, contracts, accessorial charges, and service agreements
* Lead carrier bid events, rate renewals, and contract reviews
* Evaluate and onboard new carriers as shipping volume, lanes, and client needs change
* Manage freight claims, billing disputes, lost shipments, damaged freight, and carrier service failures
* Review freight spend and identify opportunities to reduce cost without sacrificing service
* Audit freight invoices and challenge billing errors or charges that do not match negotiated agreements
* Build and maintain carrier scorecards tracking on-time performance, cost per shipment, damage, claims, billing accuracy, and service levels
* Prepare regular freight performance reports for operations leadership and client-facing teams
* Serve as the primary administrator for the company’s Transportation Management System
* Maintain carrier rates, routing rules, service levels, and system configurations
* Troubleshoot TMS, WMS, shipping-label, and carrier-integration issues
* Support transportation operations across both the Abbeville, SC and Lincolnton, GA facilities
What We’re Looking For
Leadership and Ownership
This role owns transportation performance. We’re looking for someone who notices problems early, communicates clearly, and follows every issue through to resolution.
You should not need to be reminded that a shipment is late, a carrier is underperforming, or freight costs are trending in the wrong direction.
Calm Under Pressure
Transportation problems can stack up quickly. A carrier may miss a pickup while a retail appointment is at risk and a parcel shipment is generating the wrong label.
You need to be able to prioritize, solve urgent issues, and keep the warehouse, carriers, clients, and leadership informed.
Operational and Analytical Thinking
This role requires strong analytical skills, but spreadsheets do not tell the whole story.
You should be comfortable reviewing freight costs and carrier performance, then walking into the warehouse to understand why a process is creating shipping exceptions.
Required Qualifications
* 3-5 years of experience in shipping, freight, transportation, carrier management, or logistics operations
* Experience working in a 3PL, fulfillment center, distribution center, or high-volume shipping environment
* Hands-on experience with parcel carriers such as UPS, FedEx, USPS, or regional providers
* Experience coordinating less-than-truckload and full truckload freight
* Experience negotiating carrier rates, contracts, and service agreements
* Working knowledge of a Transportation Management System
* Experience managing freight claims, billing disputes, carrier service failures, and shipping exceptions
* Strong understanding of freight terminology, classifications, accessorial charges, routing, and appointment requirements
* Strong Excel, analytical, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
* Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
* Reliable, responsive, and willing to remain involved until urgent transportation issues are resolved
* Must be located in or willing to relocate to the Northeast Georgia or Southeast South Carolina area
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with Logiwa or another Warehouse Management System
* Experience administering or configuring a TMS
* Experience with international shipping, customs documentation, and import/export compliance
* Experience supporting multiple warehouse locations
* Experience with retail-routing guides and delivery appointment requirements
* Power BI or Tableau experience
* Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, transportation, business, or a related field preferred
* Equivalent experience will be considered
