SUMMARY
As an Inspector at our precision machine shop, you will play a critical role in ensuring that the products we manufacture meet the highest quality standards. Your primary responsibility will be to inspect machined parts, components, and assemblies using various measuring instruments and techniques. Your keen eye for detail and dedication to precision will contribute to our commitment to delivering top-notch products to our customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform detailed inspections of machined parts, components, and assemblies to ensure they meet specified tolerances, dimensions, and quality requirements outlined in engineering drawings and specifications.
Monitor parts during various stages of part production by inspecting cosmetic and dimensional features. Ensure that the operations are properly performed in the correct sequence.
Read and understand blueprint drawings to effectively inspect parts for conformance.
Understand Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and its application to part inspection.
Operation of dimensional measuring equipment such as calipers, drop gage, micrometer, (inside/outside/depth), bore gage, height gage/Trimos, profilometer, etc.
Accurately record inspection results, nonconformances, and any deviations from specifications. Identify anomalies in the finished product and bring them to the attention of Engineering. Maintain detailed inspection reports and documentation for traceability and quality assurance purposes.
Identify nonconforming material, isolate it from production, and initiate the nonconformance process.
Follows all prescribed quality procedures and serve as an advocate of our quality system.
Aid shop floor personnel in 1stpiece inspections, as well as, difficult to measure features.
Analyzes defective parts from incoming inspection, in-process inspection, final inspection and customer returns. Identify the proper defect mode. Contribute to ongoing analysis and defect elimination.
Analyzes defective parts to determine reasons for dimensional variation, such as faulty machining, assembly problems, set-up, tools or fixtures.
Interact with Engineering on product assessment and analysis.
Adhere to all safety guidelines, company policies, and industry regulations while performing inspections.
Any additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED), two years of experience CNC machining or CMM operation. Six months experience in an Inspection environment.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must be able to clearly communicate to co-workers and supervisor verbally.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, percentage calculations and decimals.
INSPECTION SKILLS
Must be well versed in the use of hand inspection tools, including but not limited to: micrometers, calipers, bore gages, Dimetron, Sunnen Gages, gage blocks, gage pins, surface plate, etc.
Computer data entry and use is required. Knowledge of MS Windows and Office is desirable.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and sit. The employee frequently is required to walk, lift, handle material and assess texture. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Average hearing and speech abilities are required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical machine gantry. The employee is not exposed to any dangerous fumes. The shop is environmentally controlled.
