American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Cardiac Medical Unit (Intermediate Care/Step-Down) position in Portsmouth, NH, requiring telemetry proficiency and at least 2 years of recent experience.

Cardiac Medical Unit (CMU) at a Level II Trauma Center and certified STEMI and Stroke Center hospital

Step-down unit receiving patients from CSSU and IVCU, including med/surg tele and stroke overflow cases
-
Patient population includes chest pain rule-out, CHF, COPD, and cardiac management cases; cannot accept post-cath lab patients unless radial artery was used
-
Procedures performed on unit include thoracentesis, peritoneal dialysis (PD), tracheostomies, pacemaker management, cardiac cath, and CIWA protocol
-
Equipment used includes IV pumps, Sara Steadys, high-flow oxygen, BiPAP, and Kangaroo pumps

EMR: Meditech Expanse

20-bed unit with a 5:1 patient ratio

Unit staffing includes 4 RN teams with a free CNC, 2 LNAs, and a unit clerk

Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week

Every other weekend required

Active NH or compact RN license, must be in hand at time of consideration

Current certifications required: ACLS and BLS (AHA or ARC accepted; certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)

NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required for Tele/PCU RNs per facility protocol

Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in telemetry or cardiac step-down required

Proficiency in telemetry monitoring required

US SSN and date of birth required for consideration — no Canadian SSNs accepted

One professional reference required (two required if licensed in Florida or Missouri)

No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Responsibilities include bedside shift rounds and structured handoff communication

Professional attire/scrubs required
-
Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible, no exceptions
