Chieftain Coating, LLC is a world class, multidisciplinary automotive supplier with the capability to Powder-coat and Electro-coat fully functional metal components and welded assemblies across four commodities: General Stampings, Chassis, Powertrain and Suspension. We have a large list of customers including top tier companies such as Ford, Stellantis, GM, Suburu, etc.
We are looking for someone to join our dynamic team as a Forklift Operator and Material Handler, where your energy and precision will drive our manufacturing operations forward! In this vital and fast-paced role, you will operate a Powered Industrial Trucks (HiLo/Forklift) —to efficiently load/unload semi trucks, and move materials within our production facility in Clinton Township. Your expertise in shipping and receiving systems and order picking will ensure smooth inventory flow, supporting our commitment to timely shipping and receiving. Responsibilities
- 1+ year of experience, safely operating Hi-Lo forklifts and pallet jacks loading and unloading trucks/shipments.
- Manage inventory movement within the plant, using warehouse management systems to track materials accurately.
- Assist with order picking processes to fulfill customer orders efficiently and accurately.
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and minor repairs to ensure machinery remains in optimal working condition.
- Support shipping and receiving activities by verifying inbound and outbound shipments against documentation.
- Maintain a clean, safe, organized work environment adhering to OSHA safety standards.
- Collaborate with supervisors to optimize storage solutions and improve overall distribution processes.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating forklifts in a production plant setting.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems, preferably PLEX.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic equipment repairs and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations related to heavy equipment operation and materials handling.
- Ability to lift heavy loads safely and perform physically demanding tasks regularly.
- Basic math skills for inventory counts, measurements, and documentation accuracy.
- Previous experience in shipping & receiving or warehouse distribution is required.
