As our operation grows, we are seeking a highly skilled Lead Industrial Canvas Sewer to take ownership of our sewing and binding operations.
Position Overview
This role is for an experienced canvas professional who can independently run production, maintain quality standards, and lead by example on the sewing floor. The Lead Industrial Canvas Sewer will be responsible for executing complex canvas assemblies, maintaining clean binding and seam work, and ensuring production-ready output.
Core Responsibilities
- · Lead daily sewing and binding operations in a production environment
- · Sew, assemble, and finish heavy-duty canvas products to shop standards
- · Execute consistent straight, curved, multi-layer, and reinforced seams
- · Perform clean edge finishing using binding attachments and manual binding techniques
- · Maintain precision and repeatability across production runs
- · Identify and correct sewing issues related to feed, tension, needle selection, and thread choice
- · Assist with training, process improvement, and workflow efficiency
- · Maintain an organized, safe, and production-ready sewing area
Required Technical Qualifications
- · 3+ years of hands-on experience sewing industrial, marine, or architectural canvas
- · Proven experience sewing heavy materials including acrylic canvas, vinyl, PVC-coated fabrics, and webbing
- · Advanced experience operating walking-foot or compound-feed industrial sewing machines
- · Strong working knowledge of:
- o Seam construction (flat-felled, lapped, reinforced seams)
- o Hemming and edge reinforcement techniques
- o Binding application using folders, binders, or freehand methods
- · Ability to consistently produce clean, straight binding around corners, curves, and multi-layer assemblies
- · Experience installing reinforcements, corner patches, and stress points
- · Ability to read work orders, patterns, or drawings and translate them into finished products
- · Strong measuring, layout, and cutting accuracy
Preferred Technical Experience
- · Marine canvas, awnings, industrial covers, or upholstery fabrication
- · Installation of zippers, snaps, grommets, and hardware into canvas assemblies
- · Patterning or modifying existing patterns
- · Troubleshooting machine performance and making minor adjustments as needed
- · Familiarity with production batching and repeatable build processes

Compensation
$18–$20 per hour, depending on experience and technical skill
