Responsible for all procedural scheduling and precertification. Performs precertification and patient check-out process to include: scheduling appointments, completing requisitions, collecting any copayments due and scheduling hospital procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Performs patient check-out process to include follow-up office appointments, testing, ASC and hospital procedures. Answers patient questions and gives instructions regarding preparation of medical procedures.

Collects copays and balances Converge and cash drawer daily.

Pull off any procedures or labs that print at check-out and schedule.

Schedules procedures for referring physician.

Obtain appropriate paperwork and labs for hospital procedures, fax to hospital and arrange PACE appointments when necessary.

Obtain pre-cert and referrals for any procedures enter information under referrals in EPIC.

Add procedures to the appropriate Outlook calendar and invite appropriate staff members.

Inventory and request supplies as needed.

Review patient waiting to schedule procedures. Once scheduling has been attempted and documented in an EPIC encounter orders are shredded and physician is notified if necessary.

Review insurance provider information, newsletters, etc. for updates that apply to your position.

Proficient in EPIC, MercyLink and BJC Desktop.
Employee is required to sit continuously. Employee is frequently exposed to CRT terminal work. (Occasionally: 1-33%, Frequently: 34-66%, Continuously: 67-100%) The most significant of duties are included but this does not exclude occasional work assignments not mentioned or developmental duties.
