Responsibilities
- Safely operate a box truck for local and over-the-road (OTR) routes, including refrigerated trailers when necessary
- Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques, forklifts, or other equipment as required
- Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems to ensure timely deliveries
- Comply with all FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration), DOT (Department of Transportation), hazardous materials regulations, and safety standards
- Manage transportation of various cargo types, including hazardous materials and dangerous goods, following all hazard regulations
- Perform routine vehicle inspections before and after trips to ensure truck safety and compliance with DOT regulations
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, shipment documentation, and delivery records in accordance with company policies
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving and route driving
- Knowledge of truck loading and unloading procedures, including freight handling and cargo security
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbed trucks, tanker trucks, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and tractor-trailers is a plus
- Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles confidently
- Strong understanding of logistics cargo handling and transportation safety protocols
- Excellent navigation skills using GPS systems for route planning and execution
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, hazardous materials regulations, and DOT compliance standards
- Experience with forklift operation for cargo loading/unloading is advantageous
- Skilled in manual handling techniques for safe load management
